How WLYE handles information we collect through our web site

ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

WLYEis committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Statement sets forth WLYE’s current privacy practices with regard to the information WLYE collects when you or your computer interacts with our website and/or internet services. By accessing our website and/or internet services, you acknowledge and fully understand this Privacy Statement and freely consent to the information collection and use practices described in this Privacy Statement.

CHANGES TO THIS STATEMENT

WLYE has the discretion to occasionally update this Privacy Statement.  WLYE encourages you to periodically review this Privacy Statement to stay informed about how WLYE is helping to protect the personal information WLYE collects.  Your continued use of the service constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Statement and any updates. 


WLYE currently collects information through its web site in the following ways:
Birthday and Anniversary submissions
Requests for advertising information
Public service announcement submissions
Email communications using email addresses available on the site
Online contests run by WLYE and/or a sponsor

Web server logs
Use of cookies
Use of web beacons or gif files

WLYE will use collected information generally to compile statistical data, keep in contact with web site users and provide them with a better interactive experience.  We may use your information specifically for the following purposes, depending on the type of information you have supplied and any requests for information you have made: to contact you as part of a promotion, to allow you to make a posting on the site, to provide technical or customer support, to send you marketing materials from WLYE and/or other stations in our group and/or our advertisers, to complete business transactions, to meet legal requirements, to provide internet security, and/or to analyze the collected information.  In addition, if WLYE is involved in a sale of a our business assets, or a portion thereof, your information may be a part of the transferred assets.

Birthdays and anniversaries you submit will be announced on the air at WLYE.  By submitting birthdays and/or anniversaries, you are giving consent to WLYE to air this information, which may include the celebrant's name, city of residence, age and the name(s) of the persons sending the greetings.  You also give consent for WLYE to keep this information in a database in order that we may compile the daily lists of birthdays and anniversaries to announce.  WLYE collects the sender's email address only for the purpose of contacting the sender if WLYE has a question regarding the birthday and/or anniversary.  WLYE does not retain this email address in any database, and we do not sell or release the sender's email address, or any information in the birthday and/or anniversary, to any third party, unless required by law enforcement or other legal agencies in order to facilitate legal or criminal investigations.

Requests for advertising information:  WLYE maintains a form on its site (www.willie941.com/Contact_Us.php) which provides a way for a business or individual to request more information on how to advertise on WLYE.  The information collected on the form may include name, business name, address, phone number, fax number and email address.  WLYE maintains this information in-house and uses it to send the requested information and may use it to send marketing materials related to advertising on WLYE and/or other stations in our group.  WLYE does not sell or release this information to any third party outside of our organization, unless required by law enforcement or other legal agencies in order to facilitate legal or criminal investigations.

Public Service Announcements:  WLYEprovides an email link and online form for submitting public service announcements to air on WLYE.  We recognize that some of these items may include personal information such as names, addresses, email addresses and phone and fax numbers in the body of the message.  By submitting this information to WLYE you are giving consent for that information to be broadcast on WLYE for the purpose of allowing listeners to obtain more information about the event announced, unless you specifically request the withholding of that information in writing in the email containing the announcement.  Regarding email addresses of the person sending the psa, this information will not be sold or released to any third party, unless required by law enforcement or other legal agencies in order to facilitate legal or criminal investigations, in which case ALL information included with the submitted announcement will be released to the investigating agencies.

Email communications to WLYE:  WLYE provides on its web site email addresses of on-air personalities and other staff members of WLYE.  All email sent to these addresses becomes the property of WLYE, and we reserve the right to use any emails sent to us in any manner deemed appropriate, which may include reading them on the air (ex: song requests, stories, jokes, messages, etc.) or passing them on to our advertising staff if the sender appears to be a business or potential advertiser, in which case the sender may receive marketing materials from WLYE and/or other stations in our group.  If you do not wish your email to be used on the air, you may either state in your email that you do not want us to use it on the air, or do not send the email.  WLYE does not sell or release personal information contained in emails we receive to third parties (outside of anything we may use on the air), unless required by law enforcement or other legal agencies in order to facilitate legal or criminal investigations.

Online contests:  WLYE may, from time to time, run online contests or promotions, in which we solicit personal information from the entrant.  By submitting your information and entering the online contest or promotion, you give WLYE, and/or any sponsor(s) running the contest or promotion, permission to use your information in order to facilitate the administration of the contest or promotion.  In addition, you give WLYE and/or the sponsor(s) permission to contact you using the information you provide, and WLYE and/or the sponsor(s) may elect to send you marketing materials.  WLYE will not sell or release your personal information to third parties, unless required to do so by law enforcement or other legal agencies in order to facilitate legal or criminal investigations.  Contest/promotion sponsor(s), if any, may possibly choose to sell or release your personal information to other parties, and WLYE is not responsible for the sponsor's use of your information.  If you have concerns about any contest/promotion sponsor(s) using or selling your personal information, you should contact the sponsor(s) directly BEFORE entering the contest or promotion.  WLYEmay also post links to online contests administered by third parties, in which case WLYE is not responsible for collection, maintaining or use of personal information in those contests.  The privacy statements of the entities or individuals running the contests would apply in those situations.  WLYE advises you to carefully read and be sure you understand those privacy statements before entering any third party contests.

Web Server Logs:  When you visit the WLYE website and/or internet service, WLYE may track information to administer the WLYE website and/or internet services and analyze the usage. Some examples of information that may be tracked include:
• Your Internet protocol address.
• The kind of browser or computer you use.
• Number of links you click within the site.
• State or country from which you accessed the site.
• Date and time of your visit.
• Name of your Internet service provider.
• Web page you linked to our site from.
• Pages you viewed on the site.


Use of Cookies:  WLYE's web site may use cookies to personalize or enhance your user experience. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a Web Server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
 

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. For example, if you personalize a web page, or navigate within a site, a cookie helps the site to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. Hence, this simplifies the process of delivering relevant content and eases site navigation by providing and saving your preferences and login information as well as providing personalized functionality.
 

WLYE reserves the right to share aggregated site statistics with partner companies, but does not allow other companies to place cookies on our website unless there is a temporary, overriding customer value (such as merging into WLYE's website a site that relies on third-party cookies).
 

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies. If you rejects cookies by changing your browser settings, then be aware that this may disable some of the functionality on our website.

Use of web beacons or gif files:  WLYE's website and/or internet services may contain electronic images known as web beacons – sometimes also called single-pixel gifs – that allow us to count users who have visited those pages and to deliver co-branded services. WLYE may include web beacons in promotional e-mail messages or newsletters in order to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon.
 

Some of these web beacons may be placed by third party service providers to help determine the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns or email communications. These web beacons may be used by these service providers to place a persistent cookie on your computer. This allows the service provider to recognize your computer each time you visit certain pages or email, and compile anonymous information in relation to those page views, which in turn enables WLYE and our service providers to learn which advertisements and emails bring you to our website and/or internet services and how you use the site. WLYE prohibits web beacons from being used to collect or access your personal information.




Other:  PARTICIPATING MERCHANT POLICIES - Related services and offerings with links from WLYE's website and/or internet service, including vendor sites, may have their own privacy statements that can be viewed by clicking on the corresponding links within each respective website. Online merchants and others who participate in our website and/or internet services are encouraged to participate in industry privacy initiatives and to take a responsible attitude towards consumer privacy. However, since WLYE does not have direct control over the policies or practices of participating merchants and other third parties, WLYE is not responsible for the privacy practices or contents of those sites. WLYE recommends and encourages that you always review the privacy policies of merchants and other third parties before you provide any personal information or complete any transaction with such parties.



Special statement regarding the collection of information from and/or about children younger than 13 years old:  In order to comply with The Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule, WLYE asks that anyone younger than 13 years old NOT submit any personal information about themselves, or any other person younger than 13 years old, unless the parents or legal guardians of all involved submit written permission to: WLYE, 227 West Main St. Glasgow Ky 42141.  Permission will not be accepted verbally.  This restriction applies to submissions of birthdays and/or anniversaries via the WLYE web site, contests that WLYE administers on our web site, emails to our staff sent via our web site, or any other communication or post via the WLYE web site.  In addition, WLYE asks adults to NOT send personal information about any child younger than 13 years old, unless the child is your own, or in your legal custody, or unless the parent or legal guardian has given written permission for you to do so.  This restriction applies to submissions of birthdays and/or anniversaries via the WLYE web site, contests that WLYE administers on our web site, emails to our staff sent via our web site, or any other communication or post via the WLYE web site.  If you have questions about the Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule, visit the Federal Trade Commission online at www.ftc.gov/kidzprivacy.
